News Microsoft CEO Announces Retirement

Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer, has announced his plans to retire. He will leave the top job in the next 12 months. As reported by Reuters, Ballmer said Microsoft will retire after finding his successor. 

A special committee had been formed to determine who will be serving as the next CEO of Microsoft. The committee consists of Bill Gates (founder and chairman of Microsoft), as well as several members of the board of directors of Microsoft, such as John Thompson (who will become chairman of the committee), Chuck Noski, and Steve Luzco. 

Who would replace Ballmer? Microsoft is rumored to be considering internal and external candidates. Executive recruitment firm, Heidrick & Struggles International, will also be involved in this search. Ballmer said Microsoft's current CEO requires the right to face the changes that are being experienced by Microsoft. "We need a CEO who will oversee this new direction for a long time," he said. New direction is Microsoft's Ballmer is the change of the dominant company in the field of enterprise software into devices and services.
