US Wants to Open Base Remote bomber in northern Australia

United States (US) is discussing with Australia to open long-distance bomber bases in the "Continent Kangaroo". The plan comes amid rising fears of China's military expansion in the South China Sea. US plans Australian radio broadcast on Wednesday (09/03/2016) reference to witness the US Air Force Commander in the Pacific Region, General Lori Robinson. B-1 bombers and aerial tankers were temporarily stationed in northern Australia.

"We are in the process berbicaraan about the rotation of troops, bombers, and tankers (air) from Australia and the opportunity to train with Australia," he said as released by Reuters on Wednesday, citing a radio broadcast. "It gives us an opportunity to strengthen the relationship that has existed with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and to train pilots understand the theater of operations.

It is very important to strengthen ties with our main ally, RAAF," he said. US foreign policy has introduced the policy "pivot" of US in Asia, which has rocked China, and already have a Marine base in northern Australia. Sydney Morning Herald newspaper also released that Robinson saw the "militarization" by China in the South China Sea. What is discussed US and its allies is nothing other than an attempt to "take care of the fighting forces convincing".

Beijing said it was "concerned" to hear reports of talks between the US and Australia. "To create peace, cooperation, and development is an important trend in the region and what is aspired everyone," said Hong Lei, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry. "The cooperation between the relevant countries should serve the purpose of maintaining peace and regional stability. This cooperation should not target the interests of third parties," said Hong Lei. Assistant Secretary of Defense for Asian and Pacific Security Affairs David Shear, last May, praised the prospect of B-1 bombers in Australia when he appeared before the Foreign Relations Committee of the US Senate.

Tonny Abbbott, Australian Prime Minister at the time, said Shear has "one talk". Prime Minister (PM) of Australia, Malcolm Turnbull, would not discuss specifics about the material talks when asked about the US bombers. "Well, we set the rotation of US military forces around Darwin and across Australia at any time," he said on Wednesday. "So we have a very close defense relationship with the US," continued Turnbull as released by Reuters. PM Turnbul asserted, "I will not comment on a specific element, but I can only assure you that everything we do in this area very carefully." "We are determined to ensure that our military forces respectively to cooperate as fully as possible in the interest of our national reciprocity," he added. Beijing claims almost the entire South China Sea.

The region was at the crossroads of international trade, including being a tanker carrying crossings third of the world's oil needs. Tensions rise as Beijing claimed territorially. A US official said last month, Beijing has deployed missile surface-to-air to Woody Island, located in the disputed Paracel archipelagoes. The same thing allegedly done to the Spratly archipelagoes.
