An explosion at the gas processing locations Mexican government-owned company,
Pemex near the border with the United States, Tuesday (09/18/2012) evening local time.
The blast killed at least 26 people and wounding dozens more in the worst accident in the last two years experienced Pemex.
Local television stations showed huge flames of fire and black smoke rose high from the blast site near the city of Reynosa, Tamaulipas state just across from the city of McAllen, Texas, USA.
"It is unfortunate that the victim died due to an accident in Tamaulipas reached 26 people," the official statement Pemex via his Twitter account.
The four dead victims were employees of Pemex and the rest contractors, said Pemex is through networking sosiasl Twitter.
Pemex did not mention the number of injuries, but a Red Cross official told reporters that at least 40 people were taken to hospital.
Half of them suffered first-degree burns and two.
Pemex said experts is conducting an investigation into the cause of the explosion suffered by third incident Pemex facilities in less than a month.
