Singapore will continue to increase their area through reclamation, construction of tall buildings, and build on the ground, said National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan, Monday (04/09/2012).
Amount of land allocated for industry, commerce, and settlement is likely to remain the same over the next decade, Khaw said in written answers to questions that lawmakers filed.
Currently a third of Singapore's land is used for industrial, commercial, and residential. While the other two thirds are used for roads, ports, airports, dams, utilities, military training ground, as well as social and community facilities, such as parking lots, hospitals, and schools, according to local television Channel NewsAsia.
Singapore is a country town with an area of 710 square kilometers.
Khaw said the ministry will seek to recycle and mengoptimakan utilization of existing land to be managed properly. Vacant land in Middle Island and Angel will be opened for settlement, while residential and industrial land uses that exist will be more intensified.
Singapore will remain a prestigious and comfortable place to raise your family, Khaw said.
