Rip 20 000 Libyan Revolution Lives

More than 20,000 people were killed in Libya since the conflict erupted in February in the North African country, said the guerrilla leader Mustafa Abdel Jalil on Thursday (08/25/2011).

Speaking at the briefing in the city of Benghazi, eastern Libya, Abdel Jalil, a leader of the National Transition Council (NTC), said he did not have information regarding the exact number of casualties. However, he expected the conflict has claimed more than 20,000 inhabitants.

Abdel Jalil said the guerrillas now have lots of deposits of oil, gas, food, and medicine when they had captured a majority of Libyan territory, according to Xinhua.

Oil and gas resources contained in the shrine city, about 40 kilometers west of Libyan capital, Tripoli, enough to supply the entire Libya for several months. While the food found in storage in Tripoli enough to support the capital's residents during the year, he said.

According to Abdel Jalil, the guerrillas are holding talks with tribal elders in Sirte, the birthplace of Moammar Khadafy, for "revolution" peace in the city.

He also said, "NTC welcomes any direct and indirect talks with any group or country for an early national liberation." NTC plans to move its headquarters to Tripoli.

On Wednesday (24/08/2011), some rebel commanders said troops loyal to Khadafy besieging the rebel-held towns, Zuwarah, west of Tripoli. They added that the opposition lost many fighters to penetrate the cordon.

Colonel Abu Salem said, rebel forces in Zuwarah Zintan has requested assistance from Libya and elsewhere in the rebel-held south and the efforts being made to send reinforcements.
