Tsunami Ever Crashing New York Giants

New York-cosmic event that happened two millennia ago caused deadly tsunami in the town of 'Big Apple'.

Tsunami comes from the asteroid as wide as 183 meters.

Giant ocean waves known as tsunamis caused by undersea earthquakes and volcanoes.

Cosmic impacts also have been known to cause tsunamis in the past. The scientists found evidence Chixulub event in Mexico that could end the life of a giant dinosaur because it triggered a tsunami.

Scientists now have evidence that shows that the 183-meter-wide asteroid had fallen off the coast of New Jersey and send a tsunami to New York in 2300 last year.

"Our research shows tsunami models when the meteor 183 feet into the Hudson River," said researcher Dallas Abbott, a geologist at Columbia University, New York.

New York is located in the Hudson River estuary. When scientists dug a tube of sediment from New York and New Jersey, they found a layer of debris that is not unusual that most likely caused by the tsunami.

In this layer, the tsunami from cosmic impacts including the presence of certain minerals and microscopic carbon-filled with 'diamond nano', says Abbot.

One of the crater produced by cosmic impacts is located beneath the Carteret Canyon, located about 150 kilometers off the coast of New Jersey.

On the other hand, scientists also presented an alternative explanation for this layer. For example, volcanic eruptions or massive landslide on the other side of the Atlantic may cause giant waves.

In addition, a layer of sediment anomaly investigation Abbott and his colleagues may be caused by an event rather than a tsunami. Large storms can also have the same impact with the tsunami sediment.
