Iran's first nuclear plant, being built by Russia in the city of Bushehr, will actively begin in August.
This will be conducted regardless of new sanctions against Tehran by the UN.
"We're considering launching a nuclear power station in August, if everything goes according to plan," said Sergei Kiriyenko, head of the Federal Atomic Energy Agency, as quoted by Russian news agency on Thursday (20/05/2010).
"Resolution on Iran that is now being designed will have no effect on this plant," he said.
Five permanent members of UN Security Council, including Russia, are generally agreed on the text of new sanctions against Iran for its nuclear program pembangkangannya feared by Western states would be aimed at making atomic bombs.
Moscow, which has long enjoyed close relations with Tehran, helping Iran build a nuclear power plant in Bhushehr since the mid-1990s. Moscow still do that even though hampered by a series of launch delays, including the dispute about Iran's nuclear activities.
