The hard work of rescue teams to help 153 miners trapped in coal mine Wangjialing, Shanxi Province, China, finally bearing fruit.
At least, until 16:30 o'clock local time (15:30 GMT) yesterday (5 / 4), 115 among the 153 miners trapped since Sunday last week (28 / 3) due to floods put out alive. While 38 other miners were still in the search process.
''A miracle was finally happening,''said Liu Dezheng, a spokesman for the rescue team, after the first miners rescued as quoted by the Associated Press yesterday.
Communist Party leader Zhang Baoshun Shanxi province, told AFP that most of the victims that they put out was in stable condition. However, local television stations reported seven of them seriously injured.
The miners had spent eight days in the basement with wet body condition. In order to survive, some victims themselves into a wall hanging with a belt for days.
That they did so as not to fall into the water when asleep. Until then there was a floating mine cart and they jump into it. A number of miners who survived admitted eating sawdust for survival.
"But, we did not dare drink the water in the mines because the water is murky and dirty,''said Li Guoyu, 38, miner from Henan Province, Central China, told Xinhua quoted as saying by the BBC.
One of the medics, Liu Qiang, said that some miners who survived suffered hypothermia, severe dehydration, and skin infections due to be in the water so long. There are also experiencing shock and low blood pressure.
Fantastic''(could) be on the ground again,''I am a 27-year-old victim told Xinhua reported.
Head of State Administration of Work Safety Luo Lin told the BBC, the first miner was rescued at 21:00 pm, Sunday (04/04). Around 100 people were involved in rescue efforts at the time.
During the first two hours they can lift the nine miners who are still surviving. A second team arrived on Monday morning (5 / 4) add up to 300 the number of rescue workers.
"There are two miracles. First, the people who caught it made it through eight days and eight nights (below ground). That's the miracle of life. Second, we run an effective rescue plan. It's a miracle along the (historical) China search and rescue in history ,''said Luo, told AFP.
The first signs of life emerged on Friday (26 / 3). Rescuers heard knocking and shouting from a pipe. Since then the team returned eager to continue the search.
Rescue team sent foods or beverages containing glucose and milk to keep stamina of the victims in the basement. Also a letter containing the encouragement to the workers keep the spirit alive.
